4-foot gash to write off BA B734 G-DOCU?

4 to 7 foot gash on G-DOCU (source: unknown)

On 30th April 2012, a British Airways 737-436, G-DOCU, had just completed  performing flight BA2688 from London Gatwick to Genoa Cristoforo Colombo when it collided with a ground service equipment. The aircraft was immediately grounded and British Airways sent a team to Genoa to assess the damage, repair possibilities and aircraft's future.

On a personal note, I am quite surprised that this news didn't make it in any of the aviation news sites, but is being discussed in various aviation forums such as Airliners.net and PPRuNe (click the links to go direct to the topics)
